A major goal of the NCAW is to assist in developing a community of those interested in academic worklife. Whether you experience academia, study it, or aspire to work in the academic sector, we welcome you to this community. What are your interests? issues? concerns? findings?
You can participate in the NCAW Community by:
- subscribing to our email newsletter
- recommending additional resources to be included in the Clearinghouse
- joining one or more discussion forums
Discussion forums provide an opportunity to communicate online with others who share your interests. Each forum has a general focus and within that area you will find more specific topics of discussion. Topics are generated by you, the members of the forum. There is a registration process that we use to manage the software and to discourage inappropriate use of the system.
Discussion Forums now active include:
- Career flexibility for faculty - Policies, practices, and issues are all part of the discussion in this forum.
- Academic career stages - what are the expectations, the rewards, the responsibilities of faculty at different points in the career ladder?
- Non tenure track faculty - How do non-tenure track faculty fit into the culture of higher education? Are institutions utilizing them appropriately? How do faculty themselves feel about adjunct life?
